SABC Morning Live Interview

Look Mama, I’m on TV.

This time I really was on TV - after an hour or so of sleep, thanks to my best friend’s bachelorette. I don’t think I did too badly, though. Super grateful to SABC Morning Live for having me, to Jarred Thompson for being in-studio and anchoring my nerves, and to The Other Foundation and Jacana, for including my essay, ‘Monstrous’, in the anthology, The Heart of the Matter, to begin with.

The second of the Gerald Kraak Anthologies, As You Like It, received the LAMBDA Literary Award for LGBTQ Anthology Fiction 2019 at a ceremony in New York. A testament to the brave storytellers of Africa, and the impact they have.

“The Other Foundation and Jacana Literary Foundation's annual Gerald Kraak Anthology that contains African Perspectives on Gender, Social Justice and Sexuality have released their third volume titled 'The Heart of the Matter'. Described as a soft, subtle, deeply literary collection of stories by one of its curators Sisonke Msimang, this year's edition traverses the human condition in social settings, migration, motherhood, lonely masculinity, intersexuality, erotic and familial love - while retaining sensitivity and warmth. Via Skype we have Megan Ross, and Jarred Thompson joins us in studio, They are just two of the many contributors to the book.”
